Lockdown Lift Up 3.0

Welcome to week three of Digital Voices’ Lockdown Lift Up. It’s felt like an unending tunnel of doom since lockdown began but we’ve got our fingers crossed that next week’s review will be a slim glimmer of hope.  As we patiently await the news, the team at Digital Voices is sharing some lockdown love in the form of our favourite YouTube videos from the past week.

We’ve got you covered with new content to give you that lift up you need, with productivity inspiration, lockdown style hacks, dream homes and more.

Check out the videos that gave us all the positive vibes this week…

Kara and Nate

What’s worse, lockdown 3.0 or living in an abandoned ghost town from the 1800s with no heat or running water? In this video, our favourite wanderlusters Kara and Nate travel to a tiny deserted ghost town called Cerro Gordo where they stay for 48 hours. Previously an abandoned, frozen in time and decaying town, Brent spent his life savings buying Cerro Gordo in hopes of bringing it back to life. While we were shivering just watching this video, it made us desperate to travel again. Kara and Nate recently bought a converted Sprinter van so they can travel in the U.S. during COVID. Their content is just what we need as we dream about our next adventure, not to mention they are a pleasure to work with.

Karen BritChick

Even though we have nowhere to go, and therefore no one to impress, we have been relying on Karen BritChick for incredible street style videos and styling hacks.  In this video, Karen shows us casual winter outfits that look effortlessly chic - the perfect motivation to up our WFH fits.  She even shows us how to style loungewear which is undoubtedly the most valuable style tip we could use so we can ditch the Zoom shirt once and for all and level up our loungewear wardrobes.  Karen provides the perfect middle ground between working in pyjamas and putting on a pair of jeans (no thanks), with stylish loungewear that is both comfortable and video-call appropriate.

Matt & Summer

While running a campaign with Rightmove, browsing dream homes on the website has become an olympic sport for us at DV. Luckily we also discovered the experts in all things real estate, Matt & Summer who create stunning property tour videos from all around the UK. From multi-million pound London penthouses to modern mansions and more, Matt & Summer tour us around houses we can only dream of living in.  In this video, they show us around a £1,795,000 houseboat for sale on the River Thames which had us considering ways to get out of our current leases asap to join the carefree boat club.

Liam Porritt

If you told us a year ago that we could work from home instead of going into the office, we would have been ecstatic.  But after almost 12 months of lockdown and a lack of human interaction, the lockdown fatigue is very real. We have been looking to YouTube for inspiration on ways we can increase productivity and positivity during our time at home. Liam Porritt’s channel is the jolt of motivation we needed, as he shares productivity tips, career advice and lifestyle hacks encouraging us to become happier and more successful versions of ourselves.  In his latest video, Liam and his partner Beth spend a day implementing five small minimalist habits that they hope will help them to decrease their attachment to ‘things’. We’re starting our refresh reset off with idea number one - decluttering our work space.

MattDoesFitness

With more than 2 million subscribers, dad from Kent Matt Morsia is the UK's number one fitness YouTube creator. While we are impressed by his gains and the sheer volume of food he eats, it’s actually his son Luca who is one of the main/cutest reasons we tune into his videos.  In his latest video, Matt lets Luca choose his takeaway orders for 24 hours, and his Starbucks breakfast order of six drinks, two muffins and two pieces of toast had us howling (and jealous).  A bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and chilli con carne for lunch - why not? We like Luca’s thinking and would have to agree that two Frappuccinos and a bottle of wine on a Sunday in lockdown is perfectly acceptable.
