What’s Hot On Socials? Bridesmaid Songs, Holiday Transitions & PinkPantheress

Not all TikTok trends die fast, and the rise of some humorous classics is proof of that!

Revisiting the aisle song trend

Back in April, UK creator Fab Han posted a video set to Alex Warren’s number-one song, "Ordinary," sharing how it would be the perfect track to walk down the aisle to on your wedding day, and suggesting which beat each bridesmaid would make their entrance.

Hannah’s video went viral as thousands of people commented on how there was no way her bridesmaids would be able to match the pace, and two months later, a new, unhinged take on the trend has emerged.

Not all social media trends die fast, as an influx of creators have started to post satirical versions of their ideal aisle song. The faster and more rogue, the better.

Charli xcx, Gen Z’s pop icon, seems to be a popular choice as her music is very fast paced, and frankly gives the opposite of “wholesome wedding vibes”, which adds a lot of humor to the videos.

Initially, the new take on the trend appeared to be a competition of who could choose the fastest song, but now, creators are taking it to the next level by introducing “new characters” into their wedding party. The person they told you not to worry about, their hot dad… the list goes on!

And, as with every trend that blows up on TikTok these days, brands are engaging to showcase their humor and relatability.

The regular stream of unhinged takes is a real community builder on TikTok, and it’s also a perfect example of how TikTok shapes and reshapes culture in real time.

A transition into holiday mode

TikTok transitions are a fun and visually engaging way for creators to jump on trending sounds or formats while getting creative with their editing skills.

Transition content, whether it be from no makeup to full glam, or outfit change jump cuts, has been a popular content theme on the app since it rose in popularity during lockdown, as it allowed users to feel involved in something with a community when in-person connection was limited.

Half a decade later, seamless TikTok trends still gain traction, and now summer is here, creators are sharing videos transitioning from their homes to stunning holiday destinations.

A remixed version of the old-school Justin Bieber song “Baby” is a popular choice for the accompanying music because of the strong beats that make for the perfect transition moment.

My name is Pink and I’m really glad to meet you

84% of songs that entered the Billboard Global 200 in 2024 went viral on TikTok first.

At the start of the year, Doechii’s virality led her to officially share an unreleased song, and back in 2020, @420doggface208’s viral “Ocean Spray” video saw Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” from 1977 reenter the charts.

British singer and songwriter PinkPantheress is next in line for virality with her song “Illegal.” The opening lyrics are: My name is Pink and I’m really glad to meet you, you're recommended to me by some people.

Simple, catchy – perfect fuel for a TikTok trend.

Hundreds of thousands of creators are posting videos to the song, shaking hands with someone, as the camera goes back and forth between the two perspectives.

Pink even created a take on the trend with iconic UK journalist Louis Theroux, which has close to 7 million views. It’s an unexpected crossover, which makes the video even more enticing.

Brands are getting involved too. Premium supermarket chain Waitrose has been challenging brand perceptions with its casual employee-generated content on TikTok, and this is what happened when the two social media superstars of the Saffron Waldon (Essex) store are on shift together… TikTok trend time.
