What’s Hot On Socials? Stiletto Challenge, Local 10, and Hamilton Cosplay

From balancing acts to Hamilton remakes, this week's social trends are all about embracing fun and niche interests.

The Nicki Minaj stiletto challenge

The “Nicki Minaj Stiletto Challenge” has gone viral on social media and has quickly reached infamous status.

Creators are attempting daring balancing acts in high heels, inspired by Nikki Minaj’s iconic stance from her 2013 “High School” music video. The more random the objects they’re balancing on, the more entertaining the video, it seems.

Although the trend has gained traction, it’s also led to some pretty serious injuries…

Russian influencer Mariana Barutkina suffered a fractured spine after attempting the challenge just eight weeks postpartum, balancing on a saucepan and a baby formula tin while wearing stilettos. Thankfully, she’s now recovering and has responded to the accident with humor, acknowledging the risk she took.

Nicki Minaj herself has jumped on the trend, sharing her take on Instagram with the caption:

“Dear Barbz, about that pose… this Chanel dress was just a tad shorter than I thought and the thongs definitely didn’t help. Didn’t want to make it explicit. Both feet on the ground tho. Ten toes. Ima put on a diff outfit that won’t show so much skin and do it again for you guys later. Love.”

Given how physically dangerous the trend has become, we wouldn’t recommend recreating it as-is, but that’s where AI and clever editing can come in.

Sisters and Sisters shared a creative spin on the challenge, showing an employee balancing on top of a stack of new-in products and it-girl essentials – all brought to life through the magic of editing.

Brand opportunity:

We think this could be a great fit for Chilly’s, challenging creators to balance on a tower of their signature bottles (with some help from editing to keep things safe and brand-safe) as a fun, visually engaging way to tap into the trend, without the broken bones.

Turning into a local 10/10

A new makeup trend has landed on TikTok. Creators are turning themselves into a *insert place here* 10. Typically, someone goes from having no makeup on, a low-key hair style, and a casual outfit on, then transitions into a full-glam look inspired by the place they’re from, making them look 10/10. "Candy" by Foxy Brown is music aligned with the trend.

Creator and makeup artist Abby Roberts has posted multiple versions, turning herself into a 10/10 from Australia and LA, and even a “goth 10”.

Her Australia 10 video has hit over 4 million views.

Due to popular demand, Abby has shared tutorials of the looks, meaning her audience can recreate them.

Brand opportunity:

Rimmel London is currently doing marketing around its Thrill Seeker mascara, so collaborating with beauty creators while this trend is still popular would be a great way to raise awareness of the must-have makeup bag essential.

Hamilton cosplay

This is the perfect example of how something very niche can quickly go viral on TikTok.

"Hamilton" the musical has become extremely popular amongst Gen Z and Millenials due to its blend modern musical styles like hip-hop and R&B and humanization of historical figures. It makes the story accessible and relevant to a wide audience.

Fans are sharing their love for the musical on TikTok, connecting with fellow fans by sharing hilarious remakes of their favorite scenes.

One of the most popular scene remakes is where Hamilton climbs out the window to the song “Best of Wives and Best of Women”. Creators are dressing up in full 18th-century attire, putting in maximum effort to recreate the scene for their followers and compare who’s done the best job.

Hamilton cosplay videos are hitting millions of views, and the most dedicated fans have fully saturated their FYPs with Hamilton remakes.

This niche community trend is a reminder that when passion meets creativity, even 18th-century history can trend like it’s brand new.

Brand opportunity:

A fun way for brands to jump on this trend is by collaborating with influencers to reimagine Hamilton scenes as if Alexander Hamilton were a 2025 influencer. For example, a haircare brand like Umberto Giannini, known for their curly hair products, could partner with a creator who has become known for their Hamilton-themed content to show how to achieve the perfect "Hamilton curls" using their products.
