The Final Lockdown Lift-Up

With the end in sight, it’s our final LockDown Lift Up and we are going out with a bang.  We know you’ll miss these roundups as much as we’ll miss writing them (who doesn’t like watching YouTube for work) but we promise there are more video recommendations to come!

From TikTok makeup hacks and DIY inspo, to book recommendations and rising food trends, check out the videos that brought a smile to our faces this week...

For Beauty Aficionados… sophdoeslife

We’ll be the first to admit that we have become TikTok addicts during lockdown. The platform’s viral beauty hacks had us trying everything from sleeping with robe sashes tied around our head to putting soap on our eyebrows. There’s no better time than now to up your daily makeup look and sophdoeslife’s latest video is the perfect place to start as she tests the latest TikTok makeup hacks.  Flame eyeshadow? Why not. It’s been almost a year since we’ve glammed ourselves up and we’re going full glow up for our first pub appearance. What’s everyone wearing on the 21st of June?

For Homebodies... LaurDIY

As we continue to spend the majority of our time at home, staring at the same four walls, suddenly DIY projects that we’ve been purposely avoiding have come roaring back to life.  In her latest video, DIY-obsessed Lauren Kobayashi Riihimaki  adds a little spice to the DIY concept and lets internet strangers on Omegle decide her next project. After making her way through a few questionable encounters, she manages to get some valuable advice from some of her fans. We were super impressed with her DIY skills, with the end result being a trendy tie dye tracksuit - the ultimate lockdown statement piece.

For Everyone Eating Their Way Through Lockdown... SORTED FOOD

Started by a group of friends in London, SORTEDfood has grown into a global online food community that turns chef’s knowledge into useful tips and tricks. In this episode, two ‘normals’ and one chef take us through three different rising food trends including kefir, Rudy’s Vegan Butcher products, and chickpea ice cream.  We’ve been using our time at home to channel our inner chef so we’ve been loving SORTEDfood’s honest reviews of the latest foodie trends, keeping our chef game on point.

For Anyone Craving Social Interaction… Callux

Nothing is more entertaining than Tinder nightmares, but coming in close is Callux’s latest video where he shares the best bits from his Q&A with KSI on the Stereo app. Discussing all things dating -  from KSI’s worst date ever, to their best opening Tinder lines, this video had us in hysterics from start to finish. With lockdown set to ease in the upcoming months, it looks like the dating drought may come to an end and this video may just be the advice you didn’t know you needed.  For those nervous to take the plunge into the online dating world, KSI’s tips might help calm your nerves - the man has over 300 dates under his belt! We loved partnering with Callux on this video for our campaign with Stereo.

For People Who Have Completed Netflix… Jack Edwards

Jack originally started his channel to share his university experience, making higher education more accessible to future students.  Now a graduate living in London, and author of his very own book ‘The Ultimate University Survival Guide: The Uni-Verse’, Jack creates fabulous book recommendations and lifestyle videos.  We were seriously impressed by his latest video, where he spent a week reading five books by Arabic authors, translated into English.  This video definitely gave us the motivation we needed to put down our phones, and pick up a book.  How many books can you finish before we’re finally set free?
